About

About me

I build software systems, products, teams, and companies. Optimistic enough to hope someone will reboot Firefly, enough of a realist to know it will probably be an indie project, AI generated, when it becomes public domain. I care about data, infrastructure, AI and user experience. And how everything connects to build useful products. My mission is to help people get the most of AI without the fatigue and burnout, and without catastrophic consequences.

What I write about

Building software with AI, running infrastructure on bare metal, and the gap between what tools promise and what actually works in production. Most of what I publish comes from building things and hitting walls — debugging Kubernetes at 2am, figuring out which LLM actually works for a task, or learning why the optimization I was sure about made things worse.

I also write about the craft of shipping software when AI is doing half the typing — what that changes about architecture, testing, code review, and staying sane through all of it.

If you want to hire me

I am open to CTO or engineering leadership work, full time or fractional, interim or hands on. I can help with team fixes, data governance and strategy, and greenfield projects that mix data and software. Industry agnostic, with extra experience in life sciences.
